Sandspit Road School operates a cohort entry for 5 year olds. Cohort entry is when new entrants start school in groups through the year rather than on their fifth birthday. New entrants are able to start school only after they have turned five. There are two entry points per term determined by the Ministry of Education. Entry points are the first day of term and mid-point during the term.

Out Of Zone Enrolments 2024
The Board of Trustees invites applications from parents/whanau who wish to enrol their children in Sandspit Road School School in 2024.Enrolment is governed by an enrolment scheme, information is available on our website www.sandspit.school.nz.
To apply for an out of zone place, please complete our online enrolment form on our website,and select “out of zone” on the zoning options.
Parents of students who live within the school zone should apply and complete an enrolment form if not already done so.
The deadline for receipt of applications for out -of -zone places is Friday 17 November.
The BOT has determined the following places are likely to be available for out-of-zone students next year:
Y0-1 -5
Y2 -2
Y3 -2
The exact number of places will depend on the number of enrolments received from students who are within the school’s home zone.
If the number of out-of-zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot. If required, the ballot will be held on Monday, 18 November 2023. Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.
